Astrological Insights… Beginning of 2014
By now, most of you have probably already heard that 2014’s New Year starts out with w/a POWERFUL New Moon. A New Moon happens on New Years Day about once every 19 years. The first New Moon of this year will be at 3:14am PST. This is a good time to Set Intentions. Commence new things. Start new paths.
We had a New Moon on New Years Day in 1995… & we’ll have another one on New Year’s Day in 2033.
As we get into 2014, we’ll have the moon’s growing energy to support us with our New Year’s Resolutions… & in attaining what we seek.
This New Moon is also significant & intense because it is strongly connected with the Uranus/Pluto square that runs through 2015 (& persists in transition through 2016). The Uranus/Pluto square relates to transforming structures & making breakthroughs. Wanting things to change & wanting it now.
The Uranus/Pluto square also happened in the “Great Depression” of the 1930’s. If you have planets in the mid-degrees of any of the Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn), get ready for a wild transformational ride.
With the New Moon becoming part of this strong configuration, we see the breakdown of the old along with the breakthrough of the new. We may see a more clear and direct focus on what is dying in our lives… & what is simultaneously being birthed.
Anything that is out of alignment, toxic, stagnant, stuck, or no longer working… is being highlighted & brought to the surface so we can truly find new ways to operate.

Since September, Jupiter has been squaring the Uranus/Pluto square. Jupiter “expands” whatever it makes contact with, so energy has been building since early this Fall….energy to make much needed shifts.
Mars entered Libra this December… & will be part of the Grand Cross until mid-July of 2014. It is the “Trigger Point Planet,” bringing immediate action to the table. April 20th-22nd are the most INTENSE days of this Grand Cross, as all 4 planets will be making an EXACT square at 14 degrees of each Cardinal sign then. It is a year of PARADIGM SHIFTS. April is a highpoint.
Mars in Libra seeks peace, harmony, & balance… but in a Grand Cross configuration w/the heavyweights of Jupiter & the Uranus/Pluto square, we may become more acutely aware of some of our own internal challenges (like how we hold ourselves back or get in our own way). This challenging configuration may highlight our weak spots, but could also give us opportunities to push past them & heal what we have long wished to overcome.
Rather than staying stuck & wounded, choose a vibration that will allow you to evolve & grow beyond where you’ve been. This year is a time for real NEW beginnings (especially from now until April).

2012… The year we've all been waiting for… here at last. It's referred to by Nostradamus, the Mayan Calendar… & many others. Will it be a warped Hollywood movie… or the beginning of a Great Awakening into a Golden Age of Peace, Harmony, & Justice?
Revelation or Armageddon… revolutionary change or business as usual?
Billions of sleeping people are awakening to the realities of our ever-connected world. Global environmental issues, the short-comings of our political systems, & larger economic structures have all been under a big spotlight.
Denial is no longer possible, but is revolution really here?
From an Astrological point of view, collective breakdowns & awakenings are likely to unfold in increments. Each new development is likely to accelerate a cascade of further breakdowns & awakenings. These events are likely to cause previously former sleepers… little by little… to awaken.
Tibetan & Chinese New Year
"Year of the Water Dragon"… The Dragon is a symbol of good fortune and a sign of intense power. Dragon is a legendary animal, it's symbolic of authority, & portends an auspicious year. Everything Dragons do is on a grand scale - big ideas, ornate gestures, extreme ambitions. Since the Dragon is coated with mysterious color, Chinese consider the dragon to be unpredictable & untouchable. People cannot see its head and tail at the same time. Therefore, according to Chinese Astrology, we might see something big & unexpected happening in 2012.
"No Turning Back"
June 24th, 2012 is considered a "critical mass" point. It is the first of 7 exact squares (90 degree angles) between Pluto & Uranus. Over a three year period, Uranus & Pluto will be in an exact square to one another 7 times. From June of 2012 to March of 2015, these two planetary energies will be in a dynamic dance.
The radical & revolutionary inclinations of Uranus in Tropical Aries … combined with the urge to transform structures (represented by Pluto's journey through Tropical Capricorn)… are likely to continue to play out on the world stage. Pluto in Capricorn reduces everything to its bare bones. As we take a deeper look at the structures we live within, we will see a greater noticeable shift in our collective global awareness.
Already, we've seen "Time Magazine" honor "The Protestor" as the "Person of the Year" at the end of 2011. What will 2012 then build upon? Only time will tell, but it looks like "there's no turning back" after June 24th, 2012. We now know too much.
September 19th, 2012 is another date when Uranus & Pluto will be in an exact square with each other. It is another "turning point" day.
From now until 2015, the other exact squares between Pluto & Uranus happen as we approach May 21st, 2013… Nov 1st, 2013… April 21st, 2014… December 15th, 2014… and March 16th, 2015.
The Past
Pluto (the Great Transformer)… began to travel through Tropical Capricorn in late January of 2008. This began a focus on transforming the structures we live within, especially politics & old orders.
Uranus entered Tropical Aries in March of 2011 (on the day of the big Tsunami in Japan). Immediately… transitioning Uranus (Revolutionary Planet of Change) correlated with a super shocking expression of mother nature.
History
In the Great Depression of the 1930's, Uranus & Pluto were also in a square relationship with each other. Uranus was in Aries… & Pluto was in Cancer (Capricorn's opposite sign). These two planets were also part of a greater T-square with Jupiter & Saturn at that time. As we approached 2010, the high point of a similar T-square was recurring (involving all of the same planets). Although that T-square has now passed, the lingering square between Pluto & Uranus is still quite potent.
During the Great Depression Era, these 2 planets (Uranus & Pluto) made an exact square to one another on a number of occasions. Even though we are now on the other end of a greater Pluto cycle, it's interesting to note parallels between the past & the present.
The entire time period of the Uranus/Pluto squares of the 1930's was from April of 1929 to May of 1935. The EXACT squares between Uranus & Pluto happened during the following dates:

The time period was a real mix of things… the worst economic climate the world had ever experienced in modern times, science making great leaps, powerful acts of nature, incredible gifts from FDR's administration, & a conservative movement in Germany that would eventually turn into the most atrocious genocide the world had ever seen. It seems like everyone was affected by the era of "The Great Depression"… some more personally than others.
Our present "Recessionary Period" has also been noticed by people around the globe. We are on the other end of a "Great Pluto Cycle" now. We have an opportunity to learn from the past… & create in new and different ways for our future. We are no longer naïve to the "powers that be." We know that the will of the people must prevail... & that our vision of a better "greener" world must become our new paradigm.
The Present
Although the global financial environment has been influencing all of us in one way or another, what we choose to focus on is completely within our power.
We have the ability to see beyond our current cultural constructs… & move in the direction of our dreams.
For some… the movement toward this larger awakening & re-structuring may be more spiritual & internal. We may realize the power of our thoughts & emotions… & aim towards greater positivity as a way to shift our reality.
Pluto is an archetypal energy that clears away the dead wood so that new growth can appear. When it appears on the scene in a significant way, it can be accompanied by power and intensity.
Uranus is an archetypal energy that grows impatient with oppression in all its forms. It can inspire rebellion & change… and revolutionize areas where rigidity and status quo have gotten the upper hand. Uranus is characterized by things that happen with surprising suddenness.
When these two energies come together, there are no half measures. The change they seek is that of total transformation. Death and rebirth.
Once collapse and accompanying revolutions become undeniably widespread, there is no stopping it. A small segment of the population may stubbornly try to cling to a dying past, but that dying past cannot withstand the powerful wave of the inevitable future.
Some communities might have the foresight to adapt to the changes in a sane way… implementing creativity & cooperation in practical ways that are inspiring to others. We might have the ability to help society usher in a new & better way to function.
As this time unfolds…some of us will emerge as REAL LOCAL LEADERS. Bigger world issues can be solved by those of us who have the wish to help. Our own willingness to personally adapt to changing conditions can help us transform our world.
Doing what is necessary to thrive & grow is what is on the horizon. Rather than impossible dreams, we will create real workable solutions. Now is a time to pick up the pieces & become "Solutionary."
This time period may end up being one of the greatest opportunities for our collective growth that we have seen yet. It appears that we are preparing for one of the most revolutionary periods of our time.
Cosmic Convergence
According to the Mayan Calendar… July 16-18th, 2012 is a time that is spoken of as a "Cosmic Convergence." These dates appear very harmonious, despite the challenges. Inspired rituals & group vision on these days would likely go very smooth.

Neptune enters Pisces
Neptune enters Tropical Pisces on February 4th, 2012 (for a 13 year journey). Neptune is the planet that is associated with compassion & understanding. It is known as the "God of the Sea" and the planet of illusion. Neptune is the ruling planet for Pisces, so it will be traveling through its home sign. It rules water, oil, & fluids of all kinds. My sense is that the shift of Neptune moving into Pisces will inspire us to focus more on our oceans & water resources (protecting them, cleaning them up, & fostering greater health for the creatures that live within them).
The impact of the Deep Water Horizon oil spill of 2010 has yet to be fully determined, but it showed us just how devastating our dependence on fossil fuels has become. Stopping short sited environmentally devastating projects (like the XL Tar Sands project) will be essential. Protecting the Ogallala Aquifer (a reservoir that provides the US with 30% of its drinking water) is just one of the important reasons to stop the XL Pipeline before it starts.
A "Garbage Island" (20 million tons of debris floating in the ocean from the Tsunami in Japan) is estimated to reach Hawaii by early 2013… & the west coast of California by sometime in 2014. Coordinating efforts in our local communities would be important as the "island" reaches our shores.
Saturn enters Scorpio
Saturn enters Tropical Scorpio on October 6th, 2012 (for a 2.5 year journey). Saturn's transit into Scorpio, a 'fixed' water sign, will be reminiscent of the years 1983, 1984 and 1985 when Saturn was last in Scorpio. The ability to focus and concentrate is something that may be offered by the Saturn-Neptune trine (a harmonious 120 degree aspect). This water trine is said to be especially favorable for the discipline to attain spiritual advancement… along with the ability to gain deeper insights.
Jupiter in Taurus until June 11th, 2012
Jupiter is the planet of luck & expansion, so it is likely to be an auspicious year for those of us with Taurus strong in our charts. It would be a good time to expand in some tangible way that somehow reflects our values. Material luck may be part of that picture (for some).
Jupiter enters Gemini June 12th, 2012 (til' June 26th, 2013)
Summer could mark an adventurous time for many of us. It could be a good time to expand via communication or short journeys (especially for people with Gemini or Sagittarius strong in their charts). Generally, it could begin a period of learning that helps our mental expansion. Variety & new ideas are the spice of life.
Mars Retrograde in Virgo
January 24th-April 14th, 2012… a good time to "re-do" & "re-claim" the purified intent of your desires. Use this time to "re-assess" some of your passions.
Mars moves into Libra on July 4th, 2012
Mars will square the Uranus/Pluto square at this time, bringing more passion to some of our larger concerns. Fairness & justice will become a bigger part of the political picture, as will the need for diplomacy & a balanced perspective.
Venus
Venus has an extended journey through Gemini this year (from April 4th til' August 7th). Gemini people could get an extra boost of love, romance, charm, or artistic inspiration during this time period.
Mercury Retrograde Periods of 2012
Mercury appears to go retrograde (from the earth's perspective) about 3 times a year (for about 3 weeks each time). Lore suggests that these Mercury Retrograde periods would be good times to "re-think" things & to be especially mindful of communication & transportation plans. Re-check the facts in order to help your life go more smoothly during these time periods.
The only statistically significant communication breakdowns are said to occur when Mercury is Retrograde AND square an outer planet's orbit.
March 12th to April 4th, 2012
During this retrograde, Mercury will be conjunct Uranus in Aries & square Pluto in Capricorn. This retrograde will strengthen the aspect between these two outer planets… & possibly bring more unpredictable ideas to the revolutionary table.
July 15th to August 8th, 2012
The Mars square to the outer planets is a bigger factor than Mercury at this time.
November 6th to November 26th, 2012
In November, Mercury will be squaring Neptune's orbit, so this time period may be especially "fuzzy." Get your people out to vote… no matter how disappointed we may be with our options. This could be a super befwibbling time period in these weeks, so clearly supporting our best political options will be super important. Mercury will be Retrograde for "Election Day" in the US.
The Mayan "Prophesy"
The Mayan Long Count calendar completes 13 Baktun cycles as of December 21st, 2012. This alignment is considered to be a moment of Great Spiritual Opportunity for human beings on Earth …a time to be connected with Supreme Source . Eras of Galactic Alignment are believed to somehow contribute to the Unfolding of Consciousness on Earth . This alignment is said to offer a time of Spiritual Renewal for Humanity .
A major feature of The Milky Way is a Bright Band & a Dark Rift in The Galactic Center. It is caused by the thick accumulation of interstellar dust in the dense region near the center. It's poetically labeled in many ways ("The Great Mother's Birth Canal," "The Cosmic Ball Court," "The Goal Ring," "The Cosmic Temple," "The King's Throne," "The Nuclear Bulge," "The Dark Rift Road to The Underworld," and "The Mouth of the Cosmic Serpent of Death & Regeneration"). Death precedes Re-birth…& early Mayans saw this alignment as a Re-Birth.
This event is determined by Procession ... a full cycle of 25,627 years (almost 26,000 years). This time period is spoken of as something of a "Galactic Winter Solstice."
In the Vedic Doctrine of World Ages, they say that we are approaching the end of The Kali Yuga (or The Final Age)…the Age of Greatest Spiritual Darkness. Its end signals a shift to a New World Age.
2012 is also the high point of one of our regular Sun Spot Cycles (highs happening every 22 years). The last time we experienced a "Sun Spot Cycle High" was in 1989 and 1990.
High sun spot cycles are a time when electro-magnetic activity increases on earth (partly because we are bombarded by solar flares). Although the "solar weather" might affect our own weather patterns, there could be a subtle gift in the boost in solar activity. It might sound a bit "woo-woo," but expanded "psychic" abilities could help us to connect with one another more easily at this time. Coordinating group efforts is favored.
For many years, significant radio emissions have been detected from the later degrees of Sagittarius. Some have theorized that we are receiving subtle communications from another area of the universe… & that as we approach Dec 21st,2012… we will be much more in tune with these subtle energies that are coming to us.
We are living in rapidly changing times. As we navigate our liberation, may our manner of relating be in the direction of an offering. May we all usher in this time with hope & enthusiasm for a better & more sustainable future.

Astro Lady Speaks on 2011
2011… a Year of Transitions…
For those of you who have read my previous Astro blogs, you may already be aware that we have just come to the culmination of a very significant Cardinal T-square, an aspect that astrologers have been calling “The Depression Era Aspect.”
Planets traveling through Cardinal signs are going though the signs that begin the seasons of Spring, Summer, Fall, & Winter. This is partly why Astrologers think of the Cardinal T-Square as a time of new beginnings.
Squares (90 degrees apart) usually suggest dynamic challenge or tension, while planets in trine (120 degrees apart) suggest points of harmony & ease. So… while there is something incredibly wonderful about beginning anew, this particular time period has been doing so with an inordinate amount of growing pains for many.
The T-square that has been approaching for the last 3-4 years culminated in late July of 2010… & corresponded with the high point of our world-wide economic crisis. Although there HAS been a slight turn around since, it is VERY recent.
During “The Great Depression” of the 1930’s, we saw Pluto in Cancer (opposite to the sign it is now), & making similar aspects to outer planets.
Basically, we are on the other side of a giant Pluto cycle. Because Pluto stays in one sign for so long, it is said to have influence over the masses as a kind of a “generational” influence. Generally, it stays in a sign for about 13 years, but it CAN be longer.
Pluto is known as “The Great Transformer.” In lore, it is also known as “The God of the Underworld.” Shedding light upon that which is dark is part of how a significant Pluto influence “transforms” things. Looking at the underbelly of things that need profound attention is a process our society is deeply entrenched in at the moment. Because Pluto is traveling through Tropical Capricorn until 2024, the area of your chart that is ruled by Capricorn would be the area that is most ripe for transformation.

The New Year… 2011
Mercury appears to go Direct on Dec 30th, allowing us to start the New Year off with more forward motion for the future. There are harmonious aspects between Venus & the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction, as well as a sweet sextile (60 degrees apart) between Venus & Mars as we begin 2011. Social & philosophical harmony help usher in the New Year.
Yet all is not exactly rosey. The first 10 days of the year, we are still living with Mars making a square to Saturn… which may give us great wishes to move forward without the ability to do it completely. Saturn tests and holds back the initiative & ambition of Mars until about January 10th, 2011. By Jan 10th, it begins to feel as though 2011 will be easier for us than 2010 was. We get a glimpse of truly moving forward.

In 2011, Jupiter & Uranus move into Tropical Aries…
Jupiter finishes its once every 12 year passage through Pices on January 22, 2011. In Pisces, it corresponds to increasing our compassion & understanding. In Aries, Jupiter inspires individual intiative & courageous leaps of faith.
Jupiter & Uranus come together every 13-14 years. The last time they came together was in 1997 (in Tropical Aquarius). Then, we saw the first animal cloning (Dolly the sheep) & the first spacecraft landing on Mars. To give you a more memorable reference point, Princess Diana died in an epic car crash in 1997… & my famous dog (Nakita) was born.
Although these 2 planets come together every 13-14 years, their last meeting in Tropical Pisces was in 1334. The most significant event that I found to occur in 1334 was an epidemic of The Black Death in China (reportedly killing 6 million people & later spreading to Europe as the bubonic plague). A pretty big disaster. Seems we should be happy this aspect is on its way out.

The Jan 4, 2011 conjunction of Uranus & Jupiter in Pisces will be the last exact conjunction in this sign until 2093. Since Jupiter rules expansion & Uranus rules innovation, the years of their conjunctions typically correspond with major breakthroughs. This aspect might assist the US Senate in changing some of their old archaic rules on Jan 5th (which is the only day they can institute such change in the next 2 years).
Generally, this aspect suggests that our current environmental, economic, & social challenges are solved through a spiritual revolution combined with advances in technology… & a shift into a more unified awareness… really working together to prevent further environmental devastation & such.

Jupiter moves into Tropical Aries on Jan 22nd, 2011.
This would be activating the area of your own personal chart that is ruled by Aries. For the general populace, beginning to live life with a new philosophy… & starting fresh in some way could be part of this transit. Jupiter is known as the “Planet of Luck & Expansion”… so people who have Sun, Moon, or Ascendant in Aries could look forward to having a lucky or personally expansive year up until early June.
Jupiter enters Taurus on June 6th, 2011. By June, it’s the people with Taurus prominent in their charts that will benefit most from Jupiter. At this point, expansion & luck on the material plane is more likely (in general).

Uranus re-enters Tropical Aries on March 11, 2011… & will be traveling through this new territory for about 7 years.
Uranus, mythic god of chaos, breaks down old structures in order for new ones to emerge. In Aries, Uranus can spark rebellion. It’s possible that this aspect will generate a deeper grass roots movement that challenges hierarchical organizations & the calcified institutions that have been running things for way too long. We’ll see.
Uranus highlights where we must be willing to innovate. It looks like it’s really time to question the status quo & be an agent of change in a new way.
Uranus’ last passage through Tropical Aries was from 1927-1935. It was amplified by 5 exact squares to Pluto… & corresponded with the high point of “The Great Depression.” (1933)

Mercury through 2011:
Mercury appears to be Retrograde three times in 2011. When a planet is “retrograde,” it appears to be moving backwards from our perspective. It’s normal for this kind of phenomena to happen for 3 weeks, 3 times a year. This year, all of the retrograde periods will be happening while Mercury travels through Tropical Fire signs (Aries, Leo, & Sagittarius).
In 2011, Mercury will be retrograde from ………………………………………………… March 30th-April 23rd ………………………………………………………………………………. August 2nd-26th ………………………………………………………………………………….. & November 24th-December 13th.
Normally, a Mercury Retrograde period has us needing to fix our cars & double check anything that has to do with communication or transportation. Statistically, the only time that major communication breakdowns have been reported to coincide with Mercury Retrograde periods are when Mercury is Retrograde AND making a square aspect to planets with much larger orbits.
In 2011, the first Mercury Retrograde is likely to be the most challenging because Mercury will be making an exact square to Saturn as we get closer to April 23rd. Squares & Oppositions symbolize significant turning points, generally. Because we have had an abundance of squares & oppositions in epic proportions leading up to 2010… & throughout 2010, this time period has been a major turning point for humanity & individuals… a time of great transition.

According to the Mayan Calendar, we are approaching the end of “The Great Cycle.” About every 26,000 years, the Earth’s ecliptic (the path we travel on) goes through this dark rift in space that has high concentrations of interstellar dust. It is equivalent with a kind of galactic winter solstice. This began with the harmonic convergence on August 17th, 1987. The high point of the transition was in the year 2000. The ending of this journey is meant to be on & around Dec 21st, 2012.
The lore suggests that humanity is in a momentous transition… for it is a new beginning in a galactic sense. Potentials for this time could include evolving from competition to collaboration… & from survival of the fittest to what fits us all. For those of you who have read my previous Astro blogs, you may already be aware that we have just come to the culmination of a very significant Cardinal T-square, an aspect that astrologers have been calling “The Depression Era Aspect.”
Planets traveling through Cardinal signs are going though the signs that begin the seasons of Spring, Summer, Fall, & Winter. This is partly why Astrologers think of the Cardinal T-Square as a time of new beginnings.
Squares (90 degrees apart) usually suggest dynamic challenge or tension, while planets in trine (120 degrees apart) suggest points of harmony & ease. So… while there is something incredibly wonderful about beginning anew, this particular time period has been doing so with an inordinate amount of growing pains for many.
The T-square that has been approaching for the last 3-4 years culminated in late July of 2010… & corresponded with the high point of our world-wide economic crisis. Although there HAS been a slight turn around since, it is VERY recent.
During “The Great Depression” of the 1930’s, we saw Pluto in Cancer (opposite to the sign it is now), & making similar aspects to outer planets.
Basically, we are on the other side of a giant Pluto cycle. Because Pluto stays in one sign for so long, it is said to have influence over the masses as a kind of a “generational” influence. Generally, it stays in a sign for about 13 years, but it CAN be longer.
Pluto is known as “The Great Transformer.” In lore, it is also known as “The God of the Underworld.” Shedding light upon that which is dark is part of how a significant Pluto influence “transforms” things. Looking at the underbelly of things that need profound attention is a process our society is deeply entrenched in at the moment. Because Pluto is traveling through Tropical Capricorn until 2024, the area of your chart that is ruled by Capricorn would be the area that is most ripe for transformation.

The New Year… 2011
Mercury appears to go Direct on Dec 30th, allowing us to start the New Year off with more forward motion for the future. There are harmonious aspects between Venus & the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction, as well as a sweet sextile (60 degrees apart) between Venus & Mars as we begin 2011. Social & philosophical harmony help usher in the New Year.
Yet all is not exactly rosey. The first 10 days of the year, we are still living with Mars making a square to Saturn… which may give us great wishes to move forward without the ability to do it completely. Saturn tests and holds back the initiative & ambition of Mars until about January 10th, 2011. By Jan 10th, it begins to feel as though 2011 will be easier for us than 2010 was. We get a glimpse of truly moving forward.

Jupiter finishes its once every 12 year passage through Pices on January 22, 2011. In Pisces, it corresponds to increasing our compassion & understanding. In Aries, Jupiter inspires individual intiative & courageous leaps of faith.
Jupiter & Uranus come together every 13-14 years. The last time they came together was in 1997 (in Tropical Aquarius). Then, we saw the first animal cloning (Dolly the sheep) & the first spacecraft landing on Mars. To give you a more memorable reference point, Princess Diana died in an epic car crash in 1997… & my famous dog (Nakita) was born.
Although these 2 planets come together every 13-14 years, their last meeting in Tropical Pisces was in 1334. The most significant event that I found to occur in 1334 was an epidemic of The Black Death in China (reportedly killing 6 million people & later spreading to Europe as the bubonic plague). A pretty big disaster. Seems we should be happy this aspect is on its way out.

New Year’s Eve starts off with a Full Blue Moon & Lunar Eclipse, 4 planets in Tropical Capricorn, & Mercury in Retrograde until January 15th. It is both a culmination & a beginning time… a good time to look at the structure of what our new year might be like. Imagine it.

Mercury
Mercury appears to go retrograde from our perspective for about 3 weeks, 3 times a year. Capricorn (a sign representing structure, tradition, & achievement) is highlighted this first time. While traveling through Tropical Capricorn… our goals could benefit from re-doing, fixing, & fine tuning our gadgets & communications. Writers… edit, thinkers think, tinkers tink. It’s the practical 3 this year (with all Mercury Retrogrades happening in Tropical Earth signs until Dec 2010…when we get a slightly different mental perspective).
Mercury is making a conjunction to the North Node in these early days of 2010. The North Node is a point in space. It is a mathematical point that takes into account the relationship between the Sun, Moon, and Earth. The Moon's nodes are the points where the Moon's orbit intersects the plane of the ecliptic. Astrologically, it has to do with our destiny, our path of growth, & spiritual integration.
Because Mercury is retrograde as it is aligned with the North Node in these first days of the year, significant communications can come from internal places as well real conversations. Uranus (the planet of change) is making a harmonious aspect to Mercury & the North Node, so pay attention to your intuition, dreams, & ideas. Allow synchronicities & insights to come from unlikely places. Woo Hoo!

What we do today decides our tomorrow. These days in 2010 begin some first real steps, as a people… not just theorizing, but actually doing.
Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, & Capricorn) begin seasons. They are starting points. In 2010… we’ll have a number of outer planets traveling through Cardinal Signs & making angular aspects to each other. With the configuration of these outer planets, the lore suggests that we are coming to a beginning… collectively.
Mark this as a time of intention… where we find new purpose, allow our wills to come forth, consciously re-shape ourselves, & change on a personal level.
The Past…
2010 marks a culminating period of time that is Astrologically similar to “The Great Depression” of the 1930’s. Back then, Pluto in Tropical Cancer made a square (90 degree angle) to Uranus in Tropical Aries, which made a square to Saturn in Tropical Capricorn. Astrologers call this a T-square… a very dynamic aspect.
While the 1930’s were wrought with economic hardships, many incredible things also came out of that time period. “The New Deal” put #’s of people back to work & the USA had its first & only fully funded government Arts Program (which lasted 3 years). People had to find ways to rely on each other & work together more (whether it was for food or family). The electron microscope was invented (1931), black & white TV showed up on the scene, drive-in movie theatres came into being (1933), nylon for panty hose was created (1938), & the photocopier was born (1938). “Superman” also had his first appearance in action comics & a gallon of gas cost 10 cents.
So gas is a tad more expensive, but our present time period is similar in that it has been super challenging on the world economic stage… as well as being a bit of a wake-up call to all of us (in regard to the environment & on many other levels).
Now is a time to make fundamental changes in who we are & how we live.
This is the beginning of an era that presents us with the possibility to be our own “Super People.” Oh yea…
Most Recent Now Past (2009)…
The stage for change has been set by the Saturn-Uranus opposition… in mutable Virgo/Pices (Tropically) in this past year. It has been a dance of old ways versus new ways… of wanting our new vision to happen already, but needing to make concerted effort to make real bridges from the past to the future.
The last time that Saturn & Uranus were in opposition in Virgo & Pices was early 1964 to early 1967. Those of us born in those years have been experiencing our “Uranus Oppositions” & our “Saturn Oppositions” simultaneously.
The Uranus Opposition is known as mid-life crisis by normal people… & termed “The Great Awakening” by Astrologers.
Saturn Oppositions can indicate important changes and awareness of our future goals… & embracing responsibilities on a whole new level.
In some way, the souls born in 2009 have a lot in common with those of us born in the mid-1960’s. We share a need to follow the rules, but just far enough to allow us to learn how to break them. Ha!
This is part of the process we have all been living through in the past year.
Altering our habits by shifting in small ways has been part of this painstaking process (details needing so much attention). Making adjustments in minor matters is an exercise in flexibility that enables more dramatic changes to be skillfully handled later.
We’ve been chipping away at crystallized habits now, so that we can immerge as flying wonders later.
This past year… & a bit of Now…
Jupiter’s passage through Aquarius has already opened up the collective mind, but its conjunctions with Neptune (“God of the Sea, The Dissolver, and Planet of Compassion & Illusion”) symbolize a wide antenna that is designed to gather input without narrowing it to one single point of focus. It has been a broad stream we have been swimming in. For those of us with Aquarius prominent in our charts… our “Lucky Jupiter Transit” has been like a swim through a Sea of Possibilities… hopefully with the best of realities emerging (at least, conceptually).

Now, we have Pluto (“Lord of the Underworld”) in the dark winter sign of Capricorn. Pluto is about descent into the mines and the shadow worlds where metaphorical death precedes a rebirth.
Pluto will be traveling through Capricorn for 14 years (until January of 2024). Seeing Capricorn as a step toward Aquarius… is one way to see this time period as laying the groundwork for a future we can all be happy & proud to inhabit.

Saturn in Libra…
Saturn entered Tropical Libra on October 29th, 2009 and will be there until October of 2012. They say that a key to using Saturn in Libra is the ability to accept contrast. Rather than pitting one side against another, its gift is to recognize that every pair of opposites occupies the same circle, that they are two sides of the same coin.
The centered calmness of Libra’s cool air is something we can practice by stepping back from conflict or, at least by taking a moment’s pause… and one conscious breath… before jumping in.

Mercury appears to go retrograde from our perspective for about 3 weeks, 3 times a year. Capricorn (a sign representing structure, tradition, & achievement) is highlighted this first time. While traveling through Tropical Capricorn… our goals could benefit from re-doing, fixing, & fine tuning our gadgets & communications. Writers… edit, thinkers think, tinkers tink. It’s the practical 3 this year (with all Mercury Retrogrades happening in Tropical Earth signs until Dec 2010…when we get a slightly different mental perspective).
Mercury is making a conjunction to the North Node in these early days of 2010. The North Node is a point in space. It is a mathematical point that takes into account the relationship between the Sun, Moon, and Earth. The Moon's nodes are the points where the Moon's orbit intersects the plane of the ecliptic. Astrologically, it has to do with our destiny, our path of growth, & spiritual integration.
Because Mercury is retrograde as it is aligned with the North Node in these first days of the year, significant communications can come from internal places as well real conversations. What we do today decides our tomorrow. These days in 2010 begin some first real steps, as a people… not just theorizing, but actually doing.
Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, & Capricorn) begin seasons. They are starting points. In 2010… we’ll have a number of outer planets traveling through Cardinal Signs & making angular aspects to each other. With the configuration of these outer planets, the lore suggests that we are coming to a beginning… collectively.

The Past…
2010 marks a culminating period of time that is Astrologically similar to “The Great Depression” of the 1930’s. Back then, Pluto in Tropical Cancer made a square (90 degree angle) to Uranus in Tropical Aries, which made a square to Saturn in Tropical Capricorn. Astrologers call this a T-square… a very dynamic aspect.
While the 1930’s were wrought with economic hardships, many incredible things also came out of that time period. “The New Deal” put #’s of people back to work & the USA had its first & only fully funded government Arts Program (which lasted 3 years). People had to find ways to rely on each other & work together more (whether it was for food or family). The electron microscope was invented (1931), black & white TV showed up on the scene, drive-in movie theatres came into being (1933), nylon for panty hose was created (1938), & the photocopier was born (1938). “Superman” also had his first appearance in action comics & a gallon of gas cost 10 cents.
So gas is a tad more expensive, but our present time period is similar in that it has been super challenging on the world economic stage… as well as being a bit of a wake-up call to all of us (in regard to the environment & on many other levels).
Now is a time to make fundamental changes in who we are & how we live.
This is the beginning of an era that presents us with the possibility to be our own “Super People.” Oh yea…
Most Recent Now Past (2009)…
The stage for change has been set by the Saturn-Uranus opposition… in mutable Virgo/Pices (Tropically) in this past year. It has been a dance of old ways versus new ways… of wanting our new vision to happen already, but needing to make concerted effort to make real bridges from the past to the future.
The last time that Saturn & Uranus were in opposition in Virgo & Pices was early 1964 to early 1967. Those of us born in those years have been experiencing our “Uranus Oppositions” & our “Saturn Oppositions” simultaneously.
The Uranus Opposition is known as mid-life crisis by normal people… & termed “The Great Awakening” by Astrologers.

In some way, the souls born in 2009 have a lot in common with those of us born in the mid-1960’s. We share a need to follow the rules, but just far enough to allow us to learn how to break them. Ha!
This is part of the process we have all been living through in the past year.
Altering our habits by shifting in small ways has been part of this painstaking process (details needing so much attention). Making adjustments in minor matters is an exercise in flexibility that enables more dramatic changes to be skillfully handled later.

February Alignment-2009
Forty years ago, the intuitive words of a song, brought the dawning of the new age into our collective awareness:
When the Moon is in the seventh house
and Jupiter aligns with Mars.
Then love will rule the planets
and peace will steer the stars.
Jupiter (the planet of luck & expansion) /Mars (the planet of passion)/& the North Node (denoting higher purpose) will be in alignment in Aquarius in February of 2009.
The Moon travels through Libra from Feb 12th, 2009 (2:10am)... til' Feb 14th, 2009 (6:50am). This is a good 2 day chunk. Being that Libra is associated with the 7th House of Partnerships & Relationships...our song plays out a little on these days, but the time that seems to reflect the meaning of our song best is actually on February 16th & February 17th... "President's Day" & the day after... (when Jupiter, Mars, & the North Node all exactly conjunct at 9 and 10 degrees of Aquarius).
On Feb 16th, the Moon will be (in Scorpio) in the 7th House of Partnerships, Relationships, & Balance from 9:18am-10:54am (PST). The epic Aquarian conjunction will simultaneously be happening.
The Aquarian alignment continues into Feb 17th. On that day, the Moon will be (in Sagittarius) in the 7th House from 10:00am-11:35am.
We also have the Sun & Neptune making a conjunction in Aquarius in these days. That conjunction is exact on Feb 12th & 13th, but it lasts throughout the month as well. Neptune here emphasizes universal compassion, collective humanitarian movements, and the co-creation of social justice.
With so many planetary energies in Aquarius, lore would suggest that we may be more in tune with a larger future vision of things. We get to have days of kooky possibility, dreamy vision, & the possibility for transcendental breakthroughs.
Venus in Aries energizes and empowers dynamic co-creativity.
Saturn (the great task master) in opposition to Uranus (the unexpected awakener) suggests an ongoing confrontation as we see unsustainable old paradigms reluctantly giving way to the untested hope of the new. Their placement in Virgo and Pisces brings practical altruism and visionary inspiration to the transition.
